IndiGo has hiked salaries of its pilots and cabin crew.
Last year IndiGo had increased salary by over 10 percent in two tranches
The increment will be effective from 1 October.
" We have managed to partially offset some of the losses made during Covid with a profitable performance in the last 3 quarters.
We have been working on an upwardly salary revision. Therefore, we have implemented an increment of all our line released pilots, " Ashim Mittra senior vice president at IndiGo said in an internal memory reviewed by ET.
Sources said that the average hike is above 10%, while it varies from employee to employee.
IndiGo has more than 60% share of India's domestic market reported a net profit of Rs 3,090 crore for April-June period.
This was the airline's highest quarterly profit.
The company has also maintained a fixed pay for 70 hours, which means pilots will get paid a minimum salary of 70 hours.
Beyond the fixed hours, pilots get paid for overtime.
IndiGo's rivals like Air India and Akasa Air which are smaller in size has fixed pay for 40 hours.
This has been a bone of contention as pilots say that their earnings get dependent on the airline flying more.
" Airlines within and outside India follow different of variable minimum monthly committed hours, our philosophy has always been to maintain 70 hours," Mittra wrote.
IndiGo's salary hike comes amidst airlines struggling to find and retain senior captains and trainers after record aircraft orders.
