The Daily Mail reported that the White House claimed that Musk's official title is «senior adviser to the president» and has no formal power within DOGE.
Director of the Office of Administration Joshua Fisher explained that Musk is a «Special Government Employee,» which means he holds an advisory position and does not have the authority to make autonomous government decisions, as per the report.
As per court papers, Musk is not the US DOGE Service Administrator. Fisher clarified that Musk was a White House employee and not an employee or service administrator of DOGE, which is a temporary organization within the executive office of the president, reported Daily Mail.
According to Daily Mail, Musk's position is no different from any other senior White House adviser. Even former president Joe Biden had «Special Government Employees» like communications advisor Anita Dunn, as per the report.
