Jharkhand assembly elections will be held in two phase on November 13 and 20, and the results will be out on November 23, the Election Commission of India announced on October 15. With the announcement of the poll dates, the model code of conduct immediately came into effect in the state.
The term of the current assembly will end on January 5, 2025.
The Jharkhand assembly has 81 seats (44 General, 9 SC, 28 ST). There are a total of 24 districts in the state. As per latest numbers, the state has 2.6 crore registered voters, of which 1.29 crore are women, 1.31 crore are men, 66.84 lakh young voters, and 11.84 lakh first-time voters.
Among the state's registered voters, there are 3.67 lakh persons with disabilities, 1,706 centenarians, 448 third-gender voters, and 1.14 lakh 85+ voters.
Jharkhand will have 29,562 polling stations spread across 20,281 locations — 5,042 urban stations and 24,520 rural ones.
