Mutahida Majlis-e -Ulema patron Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday expressed great anguish and grief at the loss of lives during the ongoing escalation in the Palestine-Israel conflict lamenting that the international community and the United Nation have failed the people of Palestine.
The Hurriyat leader stated that ‘people of Kashmir stand united in unwavering solidarity with the people of Palestine as they share a deep hope for the resolution of the conflict' and an end to the profound human sufferings it has caused.
“Roots of this conflict are in its colonial past and in the decisions taken by the colonial masters while they ruled. The tragic impact of this is being suffered by the locals till date,” said Mirwaiz.
The Hurriyat leader stated that the Palestinians have been gravely wronged and are suffering as routinely their young, women and even children are killed, their homes bombed and destroyed and they are subjected to humiliation and surveillance all the time.
Every year, the Hurriyat leaders would urge people to observe the Jumat-ul-Vida, the last Friday of Ramazan–the holiest month of the muslim lunar calendar–as Youm-e Quds, to stress upon the urgent need for a peaceful resolution of the lingering Palestinian issue and protest against the occupation of Masjid-Al-Aqsa–the third holiest site in Islam.
“Palestinians say that they live in the world's largest open air prison. Even the holy site of Masjid e Al Aqua is desecrated, which causes pain and anger among muslims.
Christians and their holy places are also violated,” said Mirwaiz, adding, “Millions of Palestinians are forced refugees, while their land is occupied by outside settlers. With each passing decade, their land in their own country is shrinking
