Shreya Ghoshal has announced the postponement of her upcoming concert in Kolkata, originally scheduled for September 14, 2024. The decision comes in the wake of the recent tragic rape and murder of a trainee doctor in the city, which has left the nation in shock.
Taking to Instagram and X, Ghoshal expressed her deep sorrow and distress over the incident. «I am deeply affected by the gruesome and heinous incident that recently took place in Kolkata. Being a woman myself, the very thought of the sheer brutality that she must have gone through is unthinkable and sends shivers down my spine,» she shared in a heartfelt statement.
The singer emphasised the importance of standing in solidarity with those affected, leading to the decision to reschedule the «Shreya Ghoshal Live, All Hearts Tour Ishq FM Grand Concert.» The event, set to take place at Netaji Indoor Stadium, will now be held in October 2024, with the exact date to be announced soon.
Shreya assured fans that their current tickets would remain valid for the rescheduled date and urged everyone to stay united against such horrific acts. «I sincerely pray for the respect and safety of women in this world, not just our country. I am hopeful my friends and fans will accept and understand our decision to push this concert,» she added.
In recent weeks, several Bollywood celebrities, including Alia Bhatt, Kangana Ranaut, and Kareena Kapoor, have voiced their horror over the incident, highlighting the urgent need for societal change.
