Telugu, the word ‘Kushi’ means ‘happiness’.
This Shiva Nirvana film has also turned into a big source of happiness for its leads Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
The movie which hit the theatres on September 1, has proved to be a box-office darling.
The romantic drama has earned a whopping Rs 15 crore on day one and Rs 10 crore on day two. This makes the movie’s two-day collection an impressive Rs 25 crore, as per a report by the Indian box-office tracking portal Sacnilk.com.
The romantic film enjoyed an impressive 59.13 occupancy in Telugu-speaking territories on Friday.
The movie also marks Deverakonda’s first hit in five years. The movie also marks Prabhu’s triumphant return as the queen bee of the Telugu box-office. The ‘Yashoda’ star’s previous film, ‘Shakuntalam’ was a resounding flop at the box-office.
Yesterday ( September 1), Deverakonda thanked the audience for showing an enthusiastic response to the film. “You all waited for 5 years, with me. Patiently waiting for me to do my thing! We did it. Today!!! :) Waking up to this happiness from all around and my phone to hundreds of messages. I cannot help but tear up with emotions. I love you all,” he wrote on Twitter.
Directed by Shiva Nirvana, ‘Kushi’ is the story of Viplav, a BSNL employee, and Aradhya, a corporate professional. While both fall in love and marry against their parent's wishes, both of them develop relationship problems due to jealousy and misunderstanding.
