According to Echo, Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has reportedly requested to leave due to the severely poor performance of Al Ettifaq with the club currently sitting at position 12th in the league and with just five points above the relegation zone.
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard who joined Al Ettifaq back in the month of July of the year 2023 has really struggled this season while winning only five out of 17 league games. The most recent match ended in a 2-2 draw with Al Wehda which seemingly precipitated his decision towards departure, asserted Echo.
During the final press conference, Steven Gerrard took all the responsibilities for the extremely poor performance of Al Ettifaq while acknowledging the challenges of injuries and player absences.
Al Ettifaq has been totally supportive throughout his tenure while backing his arrival with significant huge signings like Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Demarai Gray, noted Echo. However, it was being noticed that with the departure of Jordan Henderson from the team, the performance of Al Ettifaq has declined dramatically while winning just twice in their last 14 league games.
