New Delhi | Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi charged the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government in Odisha and the Mamta Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress regime in West Bengal with corruption and an extremely slow pace of growth which has kept its farmers, youth and tribals in poverty and deprivation for the last 25 years. In his election campaign in Odisha, Modi sought votes for BJP to establish a double-engine government that would lift the state from its misery.

Modi addressed BJP election rallies in Dhenkanal and Cuttack on Monday. He began his day with a darshan of Lord Jagannath in Puri and took out a well-attended roadshow in the morning. He also addressed rallies in Tamluk and Jhargram in West Bengal later in the evening.
In Odisha, the prime minister appealed for a double engine government, saying there is already a chorus in villages and by-lanes for it. «You have put your trust in a BJD government in Odisha for the last 25 years. Today, the whole state is doing an introspection about what the people of Odisha got this time,» he said, adding that the BJD ministers have become crorepatis but have deprived the people of the benefits of the state's resources.
The Centre gave ₹26,000 crore to Odisha from the Mineral Fund, he declared, but this money meant for the development of schools and village roads did not reach the intended beneficiaries due to the corruption of the BJD government.
