The politics in Maharashtra took a new turn on 5 July with Nationalist Congress Party leader Ajit Pawar approached the Election Commission, staking claim to Sharad Pawar's NCP and party symbol. Confirming the news, news agency said that the Election Commission of India has received a petition from Ajit Pawar staking claim to Nationalist Congress Party and party symbol.
Adding more, it said that the commission has also received a caveat from Jayant Patil that they have initiated disqualification process against 9 MLAs. Meanwhile, NCP Working President Supriya Sule hit out at BJP and said it openly that 'BJP is the most corrupt party in the country', adding original NCP is with Sharad Pawar and the original symbol is 'us'.
"Disrespect us, but not our father (Sharad Pawar). This fight is against the BJP government.
BJP is the most corrupt party in the country," said NCP Working President Supriya Sule in Mumbai. Following the MLAs meet, Earlier on Sunday, Ajit, along with 9 MLAs switched his side and give support to Eknath Shinde government in Maharashtra.
