Malaika Arora's father's doctor and other relatives who were close to him in the days leading up to his death, news agency ANI reported. They are gathering as much information as possible to understand the circumstances surrounding his tragic decision. On Wednesday, Malaika's father Anil Mehta, 62, allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the sixth floor of Ayesha Manor, a residential building in the upscale Bandra (West) area of Mumbai.
According to police reports, as quoted by news agency Press Trust of India, the incident occurred while Mehta’s wife, Joyce, Malaika’s mother, was inside their apartment. The Mumbai Police have recorded statements from family members, including Malaika, Amrita, and their mother Joyce.
In her statement, Joyce explained that she noticed Anil's slippers in the room before realizing he was not there. She began searching for him when she heard the building’s watchman shouting for help. Upon looking down from the balcony, she saw her husband lying motionless in a pool of blood.
Prior to the incident, Mehta reportedly made phone calls to his daughters, Malaika and Amrita, expressing his distress. In their statements, both sisters recounted how their father told them, “I am sick and tired,” before abruptly turning off his phone. The family tried to contact him after the call but was unsuccessful, as his phone had already been switched off.
