Vasai's East Chinchpada area near Mumbai, a 20-year-old man, Rohit Yadav, allegedly beat his ex-girlfriend, Aarti Yadav, to death with a spanner this morning. The brutal attack, captured on CCTV, occurred around 8:30 am as Aarti was heading to work. Disturbingly, a crowd of pedestrians did nothing to intervene.
The CCTV footage shows Aarti walking on a crowded road when Rohit, armed with a spanner, approaches her from behind. He strikes her on the head, causing her to fall to the ground. Despite her attempts to lift her head, Rohit continues to hit her 15 times, leaving her motionless on the pavement. An onlooker attempts to intervene but is pushed away by Rohit, who threatens him with the spanner.
After the attack, another video shows Rohit standing over Aarti’s body, holding the spanner and screaming at her, «Why did you do this to me, why did you do this?» He then hits her once more before discarding the weapon and walking away. The police have arrested Rohit Yadav, who is expected to be charged with murder. Authorities reported that Rohit had been distraught since Aarti ended their relationship, suspecting she had moved on to another partner.
