Manipur Government's initiatives: Additional funds for agriculture department and compensation for late M. Lucy's family

Manipur government allocated an additional fund of Rs.2.5 crore to the Agriculture Department for procurement of fertilizer. The Manipur Government had decided to pay an amount of Rs 10 lakh to the next of Kin of late M. Lucy who was recently killed by unidentified miscreants.Manipur police has warned that there should be no obstacle to the movement of security forces in carrying out their official duties.

All lawful/ legal action will be taken up in case of any deviation and obstruction. Chief minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday held a meeting with the Chief secretary, Security Advisor, DGP, and senior police officials. He also met representatives of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), an apex body of valley-based civil society organisation (CSO) of the Meitei community and the United Naga Council (UNC.

Representatives of the UNC and COCOMI held meetings with the chief minister. COCOMI, by owning up moral responsibility, expressed regret over the brutal killing of M. Lucy and tendered a sincere apology before the Naga delegates led by the UNC.

The Chief Minister condemned the inhuman crime and shared his grief and sympathy with the family members of late M. Lucy and with the representatives of UNC. He assured that justice will not only be done, but also be seen to be done.

It was agreed in the meeting to ensure that the culprits shall be taken into custody and given befitting punishment in accordance with law.
