Queensland neighborhood in Australia were taken aback when they witnessed a sizable python slithering across the roof of a house. The awe-inspiring snake, measuring approximately five meters in length and weighing around 15 kilograms, was a spectacle that drew a gathering of onlookers outside the house.
A video capturing the entire incident went viral on social media platforms, leaving viewers amazed.
The video portrays the python's deliberate and graceful movement on the roof, skillfully using its robust muscles for balance. At a certain point, the snake turns its head towards the gathered crowd, eliciting a fearful cry from a child.
In the background, a woman exclaims, “That is feral,” while another responds, “They’re freaky, aren’t they?”
With a deliberate lift of its tail, the python reaches out to a nearby tree, momentarily pausing to observe the people. The python then proceeds to navigate between trees, showcasing its remarkable agility and finesse, leaving observers in awe of its capabilities.
Snake Catcher Dan from the Sunshine Coast, who is experienced in dealing with such reptiles, explained that it's not uncommon to encounter carpet pythons in trees.
He stated that these pythons often climb trees either to hunt for prey or to evade predators. Describing their movement, he said, “They reach out for a strong point, then they use muscle and weight to hold themselves up before stretching out to the next spot.” He also added that pythons in trees are not an unnatural occurance despite them being found on the ground more often.
These pythons are native to Australia, but are also found in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
