android alert has been issued by the cyber security experts at McAfee who found a bug called ‘Xamalicious’ that can permit itself to perform tasks from a remote distance, for instance navigating the screens.
This kind of bug has the potential to allow thieves to be in complete control of the devices that are affected. They can also perform activities such as the inclusion of spyware, or stealing money from accounts without even the involvement of the user.
It is capable of hiding the elements on-screen, which means the users of the devices will not be able to see the adware that has been installed on their phones.
It was found that as many as 25 apps contained this dangerous virus with 13 of them being available on Google Play Store.
Though they are blocked now, it is assumed that more than around 300,000 people downloaded those apps on their devices before the ban was announced.
As per McAfee, half of the installations have taken place in the USA, UK, Germany, Spain, and Brazil.
It is essential to check one’s device to see if they have downloaded any such infected app.
