A day after the ECI announcement of the Assembly elections dates, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited poll-bound Madhya Pradesh to address a rally where he slammed Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s governance in the state. He also vowed that the Congress will conduct a caste survey in Madhya Pradesh if it comes to power.
While addressing the rally in Shahdol, Rahul Gandhi called out the state government inability to function and the rising corruption within the ruling party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He also claimed Madhya Pradesh as the “original laboratory” of the BJP-RSS instead of Gujarat.
He said, “In BJP’s laboratory, the dead are being treated, and their money is being stolen,” referring to the recent report by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) that explained irregularities of Ayushman Bharat Yojana in Madhya Pradesh.
Gandhi also questioned the Vyapam scam that unearthed in 2013, concerning the youth preparing for entrance examinations, admission and recruitment. According to Rahul Gandhi, “The future of 1 crore youth is being ruined in Vyapam, 40 people are killed. MBBS seats are sold, and ₹15 lakh has to be given to become a registrar.”
Recalling the viral video that ignited thousands of people as the video of an MP man who was found urinating on a tribal, Gandhi emphasised the plight of the tribal community in the state. “In BJP’s laboratory, their leaders urinate on adivasis. This is what Advani meant when he said that BJP-RSS laboratory will be built in Madhya Pradesh,” he said.
Later, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan apologised and also washed the feet of the tribal labourer after opposition parties and tribal bodies held massive protests across the state.
