Leading energy and resources analyst Saul Kavonic is set to pop up at MST Financial, Street Talk can reveal.
Kavonic, who had been a director in Credit Suisse’s now-defunct local research team for five years and was known for his at-times highly critical view of the sector, will emerge after serving out his gardening leave, MST will announce on Monday.

“Kavonic is an authority in the energy sector, has unparalleled industry insight and track record of successful bold calls.”
Satur added that Kavonic didn’t shy away from having “strong considered views on sensitive topics”, something which he said was “possible at MST Financial”.
Prior to Credit Suisse, Kavonic was the head of oil, gas and renewables in Australasia for Wood Mackenzie – the global energy, metals and mining consultancy firm.
“Calm, considered and curious thinking is critical to navigating a ‘just transition’ in our energy landscape, where monumental shifts are underway,” Kavonic said, “The need for deep industry insight and fiercely independent analysts has never been strong.”
