Impact on Commuters
Suburban trains could not operate from platforms 1 and 2 at Borivali station due to the cable cut, rendering some track-changing points non-operational. Western Railway officials stated that trains were instead being operated from the remaining platforms, 3 to 8, to manage the flow of commuters.
Restoration Efforts
The affected points, including points 107/108, 111/112, and 131/132, were being clamped, and restoration work was prioritized to restore normalcy. The Western Railway, which operates over 1,300 suburban services daily and serves around 30 lakh commuters, assured passengers that efforts were being made to resolve the issue promptly.
Delays and Inconvenience
Due to the technical snag, train services on the Western line were running 15-20 minutes late. The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Western Railway addressed passengers via social media, stating, «Passenger kindly note. Due to a technical failure at Borivali station, all slow suburban trains are running late by 15 to 20 minutes. The inconvenience caused to passengers is deeply regretted.»
