Railway officials reported that a signalling system failure on the UP (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus-bound) fast line caused local trains to halt for about an hour. Rajneesh Goyal, Divisional Railway Manager of Central Railway's Mumbai division, informed via X, «Due to some technical faults at UP through line near Vikhroli station local trains are held up hence some locals are running behind schedule time.» The issue was resolved by 8.05 am.
The disruption resulted in suburban services being delayed by 20 to 30 minutes, causing significant overcrowding on trains and at stations. The halt of CSMT-bound fast trains led some commuters to jump on the tracks and walk to the next station to find alternative transportation.
