Murthy shared insights from his own career, where he consistently worked long hours. «I can say that I used to get to the office at 6:20 am and leave at 8:30 pm. That's a fact, I have done it for 40-odd years,» he said at the Kilachand Memorial Lecture in Mumbai. He emphasized that such routines are personal choices and should not be dictated by others.
Murthy clarified that the question of work-life balance is one for individuals to reflect on and decide for themselves. “These are not issues that should be discussed and debated. These are issues that one can introspect on, one can ingest and one can come to some conclusion,” he said. His remarks were aimed at encouraging individuals to find their own balance without external pressure.
