National Commission for Women has sought a detailed report within 10 days from the Manipur government on the death of six individuals, including three women and three children last month.
The NCW stated the Commission has received a representation from Republican Party of India (Athawale) regarding the horrifying violence that occurred in Jiribam, Manipur, where six individuals, including three women and three children, were brutally abducted on 11th
November 2024 and cold-bloodedly murdered. Such egregious acts of violence are profoundly disturbing and warrant immediate and stringent action.
It added, “The Commission being the apex Statutory Body working for the protection and promotion of women's rights in the country stands ready to assist in any manner to ensure that the families of the victims receive justice and that such violence does not go unpunished.
Keeping in view, the gravity of the situation, I request the State Government to kindly take appropriate action on priority to address this grievous issue and protect the rights and safety of women and children in the state. A detailed report may kindly be sent to the Commission within 10 days.”
