National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Moirangthem Anand Singh in a case related to a transnational conspiracy by Myanmar based leadership of terror outfits to wage a war against the Government of India by exploiting the current ethnic unrest in the State of Manipur.
The case was registered suo moto by the NIA at New Delhi. Five arrested people in Manipur who were arrested last Saturday with sophisticated weapons donning security forces uniform were granted bail by special NIA court.
Soon after the release of five, one person Anand was re-arrested by NIA and taken to New Delhi.
According to police he is a former cadre of banned insurgent outfit People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of Manipur. He was arrested for as many as six times in 1997, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2009.
He had joined KCP(Noyon) Group and was arrested in 2010 Lamphel police station and detained under NSA.
Investigation of by NIA revealed that, in furtherance of the conspiracy hatched by the leadership based in Myanmar of insurgent groups / proscribed terrorist Organizations are recruiting Over Ground Workers ( OGWs), cadres and sympathisers to augment the strength to carry out attacks on security forces and opposing ethnic groups by exploiting current unrest in the state of Manipur. And for this purpose, the aforementioned leadership are collecting arms, ammunitions and explosives by unlawful means, including plunder and pillage of government facilities and resources.
The said accused was brought to New Delhi after his arrest and produced before the Jurisdictional Court on 23.09.2023.
The Court has remanded the accused to Police custody for a period of five days till 27/09/2023. Further Investigations in the case are in progress.
