Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee said on Sunday that there is no conflict between the old and the new and Trinamool Congress is united under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee, putting at rest the ongoing conflict between the old and the new brigade of Trinamool Congress recently.
«In the last few days, there have been reports of differences between the old and new members of the party. I want to emphasize that the Trinamool Congress is united under the leadership of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
I will stand by her. If she gives me any responsibility for 2024, I will do my duty accordingly,» the junior Banerjee said at a programme in his Constituency at Diamond Harbour in South 24 Parganas district on Sunday.
There were conflicting statements from two groups within the Trinamool Congress — its old guard and the younger lot in the new year's beginning, working as a dampener for Bengal’s ruling party.
«Mamata Banerjee is running the party currently.
However there is no denying the fact that once people reach a certain age, their productivity reduces,» Abhishek Banerjee said, adding that what he performed now in «Nabo Jowar» campaign, cannot be possible at the age of 70. Abhishek Banerjee rekindled the age issue today.
He had earlier also said that there should be a retirement age for all in politics and also in his party.
«With Didi, all the senior and junior leaders are standing firm. If I am given any role, I will definitely take it,» he added, as he kicked off a campaign in his Constituency.
In one of the latest developments, Trinamool state president Subrata Bakshi was at the receiving end of attack by a section of leaders over his comments at the party’s Foundation Day
