Ladakh on Monday informed that their meeting with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other officials at the ministry ended without any outcome.
They stated that they would go back and consult people in the twin districts of Leh and Kargil in Ladakh to devise the future strategy.
The Sub-Committee of the representatives from Apex Body Leh and Kargil Democratic Alliance held the meeting with Shah and separately met officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs in Delhi.
“The meeting with the officials ended without any outcome. The meeting with Amit Shah too didn’t result in any positive outcome,” read the joint statement of ABL and KDA issued in Delhi. “Both the bodies will devise future courses of action after consultation with the people of the two bodies,” read the statement.
The representatives from Ladakh had decided to defer their plan of hunger strike in february this year, after the Home Ministry invited them for fresh talks to deliberate on their demands of statehood for Ladakh, implementation of sixth schedule of the constitution, exclusive Public Service Commission for Ladakh and two Lok Sabha seats for the region.
The ABL and KDA were formed in Leh and Kargil after 2019 when Ladakh was carved out as a separate Union territory from J&K to strive for the rights of the people across the region.
