'One of biggest sources of fraud': DOGE chief Elon Musk explains why his team targeted USAID
Elon Musk has spilled beans on why his team targeted the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). In an interview with Fox Business, Musk said the strategy was to «follow the money» and challenge what he saw as significant financial waste and corruption.
Musk previously claimed that the aid agency is «a criminal organization» and that Trump has agreed to «shut it down». Trump had posted on his Truth Social page on Friday that USAID's spending «IS TOTALLY UNEXPLAINABLE… CLOSE IT DOWN!»
Why was USAID was shut down?
Neither Trump or Musk provided clear evidence to support their claims, and the president's effort to shutter the agency is expected to face legal challenges. However, according to Trump ally Musk USAID was «completely violating President's executive orders to suspend foreign aid.»
