Lucknow lost her life after she was shot allegedly by an acquaintance she had met on Instagram just ten days ago. As per a TOI report, the tragic event unfolded at a residence located in Dayal Residency on Faizabad road within the Chinhat area of Lucknow.
The police have arrested the prime suspect, Aditya Pathak, a 26-year-old individual with a history of criminal activities.
A murder case under IPC section 302 has been registered against him. Aditya had recently been granted bail in an extortion case.
The victim, identified as Nishtha Tripathi, hailing from Hardoi, was pursuing a B Com (Honours) degree at the private university, according to the police.
The incident occurred during a gathering at the flat, where several students were reportedly present. Although liquor bottles were discovered at the scene, the police have denied allegations of a party taking place in the flat.
Reports indicate that the rented flat, where Aditya resided, was the location of the incident.
Aditya, a resident of Ballia, had invited Nishtha to meet at this location. Unfortunately, an altercation ensued between them, leading to the accused attacking the victim with a country-made pistol, as disclosed by Anindya Vikram Singh, ACP, Vibhuti Khand.
Around 3:30 am, a gunshot was heard by Aditya's friend Monu, who rushed to the scene only to find Nishtha in a critical condition.
The accused and his friend transported the victim to the RMLIMS emergency ward, where they provided her parents' contact information, who reside in Hardoi. Tragically, Nishtha was pronounced dead, and the individuals fled the hospital, as revealed by a police officer.
