Narendra Modi on Sunday announced plans to open two new Indian consulates in the US — in Boston and Los Angeles — and a Thiruvalluvar Chair of Tamil studies in the University of Houston, as he addressed a huge gathering of the Indian diaspora in New York where he hailed the American-Indian spirit, or AI.
These initiatives, according to the PM, would further strengthen the living bridge between India and its diaspora in the US. He expressed hope that the Indian diaspora, with its strong convening strength, would continue to play a crucial role in fostering closer ties between the two countries.
«For the world, AI means artificial intelligence, but for me, AI also means American-Indian spirit. This is the new 'AI' power of the world...I salute the Indian diaspora here,» Modi said.
Referring to India's progress in the technology sector, the PM said: «Today, India's 5G market is bigger than America. It has happened within two years. Now, India is working on made-in-India 6G.»
