Narendra Modi will campaign for six Lok Sabha seats in the Old Mysuru region, including Bengaluru, on April 20, Saturday. He will hold public rallies in Chikkaballapur and, at the Palace Grounds in Bengaluru.
BJP state general secretary Sunil Kumar Karkala said they expect one lakh people to participate in each of these events. Karnataka will go to polls on April 26 and May 7.
This is the third visit by the PM to Karnataka this election season including the one to Kalaburagi on the day the polls schedules were announced.
Modi's visit to Chikkaballapur comes three days after AICC leader Rahul Gandhi's visit to the neighbouring Kolar. The BJP holds Chikkaballapur and Kolar seats, and the Congress is giving a tough fight to wrest the seats. In Kolar, JDS has fielded Mallesh Babu as NDA candidate.
At the rally in Palace Grounds, Modi will campaign for the party candidates in Bengaluru North, Central, South, and Rural seats. MoS (agriculture) Shobha Karandlaje is contesting from Bengaluru North after the party moved her from Udupi-Chikmagalur as part of an electoral strategy. In Bengaluru Rural, well-known cardiologist Dr CN Manjunath is taking on DK Suresh, the only Congress candidate who won in 2019.
The PM had, last Sunday, addressed a public rally in Mysuru, sharing the dais with JDS stalwarts HD Deve Gowda and HD Kumaraswamy in a first public show of joint campaigning by the two parties, before holding a roadshow at Mangaluru. The PM covered six LS constituencies, last week, from the two events.
