Manipur was set on fire. Intense gunfire has erupted in Gularthol in Manipur between Manipur Police Commando and suspected militants.
While the check point falls under Jiribam district, the nearby Paithol village is in Tamenglong district. The incident took place at 10:20 pm on Wednesday.
Police reinforcements rushed to the site but were ambushed by the miscreants. A gun battle ensued that lasted around half an hour. A fire tender that responded to douse the flames was also hit
by bullets.
Sources said that the checkpoint was attacked on earlier occasions and nighttime security was withdrawn.
