“She is doing better in all the three parameters. We have worked on shot selection and it is evident to me that she is where she needs to be. We have worked really hard on her mental strength and she is totally relaxed and focussed at the same time. Physically she is peaking at the right time and you will see the difference here,” said Padukone, who has travelled with Sindhu to Paris and will be in her corner on match days.
With two Olympic medals, Sindhu is India’s most successful badminton player ever, but coming into the Paris Olympics she is not India’s biggest hope. That mantle lies with the men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. Padukone believed that could work in her favour.
“You can absolutely say she is ready. In fact, I will go so far as to say she is a contender. There are many events here in Paris where India doesn’t stand a chance. That’s never the case with Sindhu.
