Vinesh Phogat's petition against her disqualification at the Paris Olympics, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) confirmed on Wednesday.
IOA President Dr PT Usha has expressed her shock and disappointment at the decision of the Sole Arbitrator at CAS to dismiss Phogat’s application against the United World Wrestling (UWW) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The Indian wrester was disqualified by the IOC for weighing 100 grams more than permissible limit moments before her gold medal bout.
Earlier on Tuesday, IOA had said that the CAS will give its verdict on August 16.
Phogat had filed her appeal on August 7 challenging the Olympics disqualification, leading to the Olympics committee revoking her silver medal win. In her appeal, the Indian has demanded that she be given a joint silver with Lopez as she was within the prescribed weight limit during her bouts a day before the final.
The 29-year-old wrestler was virtually present for the hearing which went for over three hours.
Vinesh was represented by a skilled legal team from France, comprising Joelle Monlouis, Estelle Ivanova, Habbine Estelle Kim, and Charles Amson. Provided by the Paris Bar, they are working on her case pro bono and have been instrumental in assisting her and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) with the filing process.
