Kejriwal's Cabinet, Raaj Anand, resigned and quit AAP accusing it of corruption. His resignation follows a summons by ED to appear on April 12.
Addressing a press conference to announce his resignation, he said, «I had stepped into politics when Kejriwal had said that politics will change. But today, with a lot of regret, I am saying that the politics has not changed but the leaders have. AAP was born out of the anti-corruption movement but now the party is steeped in corruption. It has become untenable for me to continue as a minister.»
His residence was raided in November 2023 in a money laundering case by ED not connected to the liquor probe. Hours before his resignation, Anand had shared AAP MP Sanjay Singh's press meet link on social media.
Anand said though AAP says it follows the ideals of BR Ambedkar, it has not done anything to give them representation. Anand was a member of AAP's national council and has been with Kejriwal's movement since 2011. A post-graduate in political science, Anand won the 2020 assembly election from Patel Nagar.
Within minutes of his resignation, Singh and Saurabh Bharadwaj held a press conference and said he had got scared and the party had its sympathies. «We have been saying from the beginning that the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal is a conspiracy to destabilise the governments in Delhi and Punjab. This is a clear indication. We know that Anand had got ED summons for appearance on 12th). We should not become like Raaj Kumar Anand. We have to be like Sanjay Singh, Manish
