Rahul Gandhi on Saturday dubbed the caste census conducted by the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar as a «fake caste census» aimed at «befooling people,» and reiterated Congress' commitment to conduct a nationwide caste census.

Addressing a 'Samvidhan Suraksha Sammelan' in Patna, Gandhi also repeated the promise to raise the reservation ceiling beyond 50% if Congress comes to power at the Centre and targeted RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat yet again.
Incidentally, the Bihar caste survey was done when Kumar was ruling in alliance with RJD and Congress, prior to his realignment with BJP to form the present government. Also, Gandhi had last year claimed it was Congress that pressured Kumar to hold the caste survey.
«A caste census should be conducted to understand the true situation of the nation… A policy should be made on caste census,» he said, adding that Congress will pass a caste census in parliament when it comes to power.
