Congress was ahead in 77 seats, according to early Election Commission trends for the state assembly polls. The Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) led in five seats, with the CPI (M) and BSP leading in two each.
Independent candidates led in nine constituencies.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and several Congress ministers were leading, while BJP rebels like Yoonus Khan were among the independent candidates leading.

Elated over the initial trends, Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said people have voted to oust Congress from the government. “People have failed the guarantees of Congress. They have voted to throw corrupt Congress out,” news agency PTI reported Shekhawat as saying.
