TRP Game Zone on Nana Mauva Road in Rajkot on Saturday, claiming the lives of at least 27 individuals, including nine young children. The victims were tragically burned to death in the inferno.
According to DCP Parthrajsinh Gohil, the death toll has reached 27, while search and rescue efforts continue at the scene. The fire, which started around 6 pm, caused chaos as some managed to escape while others were trapped by collapsing temporary structures. Sources said at least 300 people were present in the game zone due to summer vacation and weekend.
Ilesh Kher, the chief fire officer of Rajkot, said, «A temporary structure collapsed near the entrance, making it difficult for the people to rush outside the dome. This also created hurdles in firefighting.» Although a short circuit is commonly thought to have initiated the fire, officials from the fire department have indicated that the precise cause will only be determined after a thorough investigation has been conducted.
