He also shared a picture of his boarding pass, and added the caption, «Now just pray I reach Mumbai.» He had a connecting flight from Manali via Delhi to Mumbai. In another Story, he posted a picture of himself from the mountain cottage in a backdrop of a gushing river and captioned it, «I can't believe I was here.»

Initially, without a network and unable to escape, Ruslaan found shelter with the owner's family of the hotel where he was staying and confirmed his safety. A day before his departure, the 40-year-old heaped praise on his hotel manager Nakul Mahant and called him a «real-life hero.» «Instead of worrying about losing one of his most precious assets, Nakul made sure that all his hotel guests which included our shooting crew of 40 people reached safety.
