SAP Labs India, the local R&D arm of the world’s biggest enterprise resource planning (ERP) software company, will look to double by next year its artificial intelligence talent base, stretching its repertoire of services beyond bespoke ERP solutions.
SAP Labs India, which has more than 12,000 employees across the country, did not give an absolute number for its AI talent but said India is the only location globally where each of its products and services is worked and developed upon.
«In terms of the talent availability, the fact that 16% of the world's AI talent is based out of here (India) is also a huge plus for us to tap into that talent pool to build the innovations from here for the rest of the world,» said Sindhu Gangadharan, Managing Director, SAP Labs India.
«We are talking about going really across the length and breadth of our portfolio. I would say on an average, like in every line of business, 60% of the people are involved in AI,» she added.
Nasscom Priorities
Gangadharan was named as the IT industry body Nasscom's vice chair on Wednesday. The tech executive listed out three focus areas to be addressed during her tenure-- training youth to solve problems at scale, using technology to solve larger challenges like increasing women in tech leadership and drive inclusion, and capitalizing the AI wave in a responsible manner.
«Nasscom will also help in
