Shiv Sena's and BJP's Hindutva agenda by stating that Sena's Hindutva was all encompassing but BJP's was «communal» and «poisonous». «We are being accused of going with Shiv Sena and that there is no difference between BJP and Shiv Sena. Sena's Hindutva is all encompassing, it takes everyone along while BJP's Hindutva is poisonous, they are Manuwadi and are a threat to the nation.
BJP's Hindutva creates a discord between people,» Sharad Pawar said at the Yashwantrao Chavan Centre in Mumbai's Nariman Point. «There were riots in Maharashtra recently. These riots were deliberately created by the rulers to get political dividends.
The one that creates discord between people cannot be a patriot and so today we cannot be party to a decision to go with people like this.» Pawar was responding to criticism from rebel NCP leaders Praful Patel and Ajit Pawar on how the NCP leadership cannot use ideology to stay away from BJP. Referring to the argument of forming a government with BJP in Nagaland, Pawar said, «You should remember that Nagaland is a border state and is quite close to China. In border states, we have to be careful.
If there is chaos there, then neighbouring countries can take advantage of it and the whole country would have to pay for it. So, we have had to support it from outside. Here they have joined the government,» he said.
Pawar said he was 'pained' with the rebellion of the NCP MLAs but warned them that they would suffer with BJP. «Whoever has gone with BJP has suffered. The Akali Dal and BJP formed a government in Punjab but it led to problems.
The Akali Dal was unsettled by BJP. Similarly, it happened with Nitish Kumar in Bihar. BJP's sole agenda is to destabilise their allies and dismantle them,» he claimed.
