The woman said that her house was set on fire and she had to flee with her two sons, niece and sister-in-law. She said she has come forward to relate her experience three months after the incident after reading reports of women speaking up about the horrors they went through. The woman stumbled and fell.
When she got up, around 6 «Kuki miscreants got hold of me and started verbally abusing and assaulting me. Despite my resistance, I was forcefully pinned down and sexually assaulted. There was no help coming despite my cries for help.
Thereafter, some more Kuki miscreants joined them… I lost my consciousness. When I regained my consciousness, I found myself in a house surrounded by some Meitei people. I did not disclose the above incident to save myself and my family's honour, dignity and to save ourselves from social ostracism.
The delay in filing this complaint is due to social stigma. But my health has deteriorated owing to the injuries I sustained on the day of the incident. So, I went to RIMS Hospital for my health check-up, but I was so depressed and annoyed that I even wanted to end my life, couldn't even express myself so returned without seeing the doctor… Now, I decided to come forward and file the complaint after I realised that adequate punishment should be given to the gang of culprits for sexually assaulting, abusing and physically assaulting me in the most horrific manner.» The woman lives in a relief camp for internally displaced people.
