Sharad Kapoor under investigation: 'Josh' fame actor faces sexual harassment charges; woman files complaint
Allegations Detailed in Complaint
According to the complaint, Kapoor contacted the woman via Facebook and later communicated with her through video calls. The actor reportedly invited her to discuss a project related to video reels, sharing his location and claiming it was his office. However, upon arrival on November 26, 2024, the woman discovered that the address belonged to Kapoor's residence.
She stated that an elderly housekeeper opened the door and Kapoor called her to his bedroom. When she approached the room, she allegedly found Kapoor undressed and behaving inappropriately. «He insisted I come inside and hug him,» the woman said in her statement to the police. She claimed that Kapoor forcibly hugged and groped her, prompting her to leave immediately.
Later that evening, Kapoor allegedly sent obscene messages, including a photograph and a vulgar voice note via WhatsApp. Distressed, the woman shared the incident with a friend before filing a complaint at the Khar police station.
Police Investigation Underway
Based on the complaint, the police registered an FIR under sections 74 (assault or criminal force to a woman), 75 (sexual harassment), and 79 (insulting the modesty of a woman) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). The authorities confirmed that Kapoor has been summoned for questioning but has not been arrested, as the charges carry a punishment of less than seven years, in line with Supreme Court guidelines.
