The NSE Nifty index ended the session 662.11 points down at 24055.6, while BSE Sensex fell 2222.55 points to 78759.4.
In the Nifty index, Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(up 0.87 per cent), Nestle India Ltd.(up 0.64 per cent), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 0.50 per cent), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(up -0.34 per cent) and Britannia Industries Ltd.(up -0.40 per cent) stood among the top gainers.
