Sleeping Dogs' revolves around former homicide detective Roy Freeman, portrayed by Russell Crowe. After being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, he wants to keep himself busy and active, so the detective reopens a case to investigate whether he put the right person behind bars. He is contacted by Emily Dietz from Project Clean Hands, a group that attempts to free wrongly convicted people. The group takes up the case of Isaac Samuel, a death row inmate Freeman arrested and got him convicted for the murder of college professor Joseph Wieder.
