Stock market update: Mining stocks down as market rises

Madhav Marbles & Granites Ltd.(up 3.42%), Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Ltd.(up 1.69%), Coal India Ltd.(up 1.41%), Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd.(up 0.94%), Ashapura Minechem Ltd.(up 0.56%) and Pokarna Ltd.(up 0.49%) stood among the top gainers.

The Orissa Minerals Development Company Ltd.(down 2.05%), Lexus Granito(India)Ltd.(down 1.61%), Oriental Trimex Ltd.(down 1.41%), KIOCL Ltd.(down 1.19%), NMDC Ltd.(down 0.48%), MOIL Ltd.(down 0.28%), 20 Microns Ltd.(down 0.17%) and Aro Granite Industries Ltd.(down 0.02%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 21.21 points up at 24857.3, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 60.14 points at 81415.98.
Tata Motors Ltd.(up 3.37%), NTPC Ltd.(up 3.32%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(up 3.05%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 2.18%), Asian Paints Ltd.(up 1.71%), Titan Company Ltd.(up 1.66%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd.(up 1.58%), Coal India Ltd.(up 1.41%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 1.29%) and Adani Enterprises Ltd.(up 1.28%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.98%), Cipla Ltd.(down 1.62%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(down 1.55%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 1.47%), Grasim Industries Ltd.(down 1.32%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 1.26%), ITC Ltd.(down 1.24%), Shriram Finance Ltd.(down 1.06%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(down 0.96%) and Britannia Industries Ltd.(down 0.94%) closed in the red.
