Stock market update: Mining stocks down as market falls

KIOCL Ltd.(down 5.04%), Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Ltd.(down 4.20%), Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd.(down 4.01%), MOIL Ltd.(down 3.90%), The Orissa Minerals Development Company Ltd.(down 3.88%), Lexus Granito(India)Ltd.(down 3.49%), Coal India Ltd.(down 3.39%), Pokarna Ltd.(down 3.14%), Ashapura Minechem Ltd.(down 3.07%) and Oriental Trimex Ltd.(down 2.06%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 218.61 points at 24180.8, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 662.87 points at 79402.29.
ITC Ltd.(up 2.25%), Axis Bank Ltd.(up 1.89%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(up 1.02%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(up 0.92%), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(up 0.77%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 0.63%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.41%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(up 0.38%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.24%) and ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 0.22%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
