Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.02% in a weak market
Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 1.32 per cent), Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 0.67 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(up 0.58 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(up 0.5 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.41 per cent) were among the top gainers.
MRF Ltd.(down 2.74 per cent), Bosch Ltd.(down 1.06 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 0.86 per cent), Apollo Tyres Ltd.(down 0.81 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.76 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was down 0.02 per cent at 22730.05 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 18.96 points at 22629.25, while the BSE Sensex was down 176.83 points at 74434.28.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 were trading in the green, while 24 were in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, BHEL, IFCI and NHPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Univastu India, Taj GVK Hotels, Ajanta Pharma, Arrow Greentech and BHEL hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Adroit Infotech (PP), Signpost India, Melstar Info, Osia Hyper Retail and Naga Dhunseri Group hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
