Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 1.19%

Shares of Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(up 0.55 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 0.17 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Bosch Ltd.(down 4.05 per cent), Bharat Forge Ltd.(down 3.59 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 2.78 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(down 2.56 per cent) and Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.86 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 1.19 per cent down at 25527.15.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 292.95 points at 24852.15, while the BSE Sensex stood down 1017.23 points at 81183.93.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 7 ended in the green, while 43 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Zomato, Easy Trip Planners and Canara Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of VST Industries, Laxmi Cotspin, Nandan Denim, Godfrey Philips and Mrs. Bectors Food Specialities hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Stampede Cap(DVR), Mahalaxmi Fabric Mil, Globale Tessile, Raymond Lifestyle L and Divgi Torqtransfer hit their fresh 52-week lows.
