Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.49%

Shares of Abbott India Ltd.(up 0.79 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(up 0.76 per cent), Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(up 0.54 per cent), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(up 0.34 per cent) and Natco Pharma Ltd.(up 0.27 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Biocon Ltd.(down 2.39 per cent), Mankind Pharma Ltd.(down 2.02 per cent), Laurus Labs Ltd.(down 1.57 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.48 per cent) and Lupin Ltd.(down 1.48 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.49 per cent down at 23043.4.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 292.95 points at 24852.15, while the BSE Sensex stood down 1017.23 points at 81183.93.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 7 ended in the green, while 43 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Zomato, Easy Trip Planners and Canara Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of VST Industries, Laxmi Cotspin, Nandan Denim, Godfrey Philips and Mrs. Bectors Food Specialities hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Stampede Cap(DVR), Mahalaxmi Fabric Mil, Globale Tessile, Raymond Lifestyle L and Divgi Torqtransfer hit their fresh 52-week lows.
