Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.17%
Shares of HDFC Bank(up 1.08 per cent) and ICICI Bank(up 0.27 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack. On the other hand, Punjab National Bank(down 2.25 per cent), IndusInd Bank(down 1.41 per cent), State Bank of India(down 1.3 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.15 per cent) and Bank of Baroda(down 1.11 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.17 per cent down at 45845.0. Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 8.25 points at 19680.6, while the BSE Sensex stood down 29.07 points at 66355.71.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red. Shares of Suzlon Energy, SJVN, YES Bank, Tata Steel and Reliance Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
