Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 1.68%
Shares of Bandhan Bank Ltd.(up 0.22 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Bank of Baroda(down 2.95 per cent), ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 2.82 per cent), State Bank of India(down 2.15 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 2.02 per cent) and Punjab National Bank(down 1.89 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 1.68 per cent down at 44623.85.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 159.05 points at 19742.35, while the BSE Sensex stood down 570.6 points at 66230.24.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 ended in the green, while 35 closed in the red.
Shares of IOB, JP Power, YES Bank, Vodafone Idea and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Jindal Photo, KSB, Dishman Carbogen, Nava Bharat Vent.
and AVG Logistics hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while FutureLifestyleFash, Jiwanram Sheoduttrai, Pramara Promotions, Penta Gold and Vaxtex Cotfab hit their fresh 52-week lows.
