Shares of Tech Mahindra(up 0.19 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack. On the other hand, MPhasis(down 3.77 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd(down 2.24 per cent), Persistent Systems(down 1.92 per cent), Coforge(down 1.82 per cent) and Wipro(down 1.02 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 0.81 per cent down at 30043.6. Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 207.0 points at 19526.55, while the BSE Sensex stood down 676.53 points at 65782.78.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 7 ended in the green, while 43 closed in the red. Shares of Reliance Power, Suzlon Energy, Indian Railway Fin, Vodafone Idea and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
