Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 385.0 points up at 21737.6 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Astec Lifesc, Tatva Chintan Pharm, GSS Infotech, Lords Chloro and Gandhar Oil Refinery, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 38 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 12 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, ONGC, RIL, Coal India Ltd, Adani Ent.
and Adani Ports SEZ were among top gainers during the day, while Cipla, ITC, LTIMindtree, Infosys and Bajaj Auto ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 1240.9 points up at 71941.57.
